November birthday cards

Hard to believe that November is just right around the corner. The weather in Southern Wisconsin has turned the corner as well. From the high 70s and low 80s last week to highs in the 30s and 40s. I think Fall has definitely made its way to Wisconsin. I used the cold weather today to make two birthday cards; one for my cousin and one for a friend of mine.

I used the Blueprints 26 die from My Favorite Things for the balloon and the stamped sentiment is from CZ Design Clean Line XL which I purchased from Simon Says Stamp. Cardstock is Bazzill from my stash and the black ink is Memento.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use the balloon string on these so I used it on one of the cards and left it off the other. I really like the clean line of the one without the balloon string. Which one do you like better?

I also made a shaker Halloween card for a girlfriend of mine. She really loves Halloween. I think it turned out pretty good if I say so myself! I think next time I make this card, I’m going to leave the cauldron black. All the products for this card is by Pretty Pink Posh: layered ghosts stencil, cauldron shaker die, boo word die and Halloween bats clay confetti (I think).

I have one more November birthday card to make. It’s for someone that LOVES sloths. I do have a couple of stamp sets that has sloths in it. I will have to scour the internet/Pinterest for ideas.

I need to stop taking pictures of my cards at night.

Thank you for visiting!

Belated birthday dinner

I have such amazing friends. My girlfriend invited me over to her house this past weekend for a belated birthday dinner. She made homemade chicken pot pie and for desert homemade apple pie. Two of my favorite comfort foods.

My mom, may she rest in peace, was a fabulous baker/cook and every birthday she’d ask me what I wanted for my birthday dinner. For the most part I’d tell her to make whatever, but I always asked for apple pie for my birthday “cake”. I have to tell you, this apple pie that my girlfriend made tasted close to the apple pies my mom would make me for my birthday dinner. Such wonderful memories of my mom and great new memories with one of my best girlfriends. I really felt pampered and taken care of.

We’ve been friends for over 20 years. Our children are close in age, we’ve been through divorce together, death of both of our parents together, being downsized at our jobs together and eventually back to working together at the same company again. Friendship like this is hard to find now-a-days and I am eternally grateful and thankful for this woman in my life. She is my sister from another mister and I love her.

Thank the Universe and the good Lord for a friendship like this. I love you, my friend.
