Now that I’ve graduated from college, I have some time to do something that I truly enjoy, which is reading. I know you’re probably thinking, didn’t you read in college? Yes, but this reading is something I WANT to do, not something that I HAVE to do 🙂
So the book I’ve just started is called Dark Money The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right by Jane Mayer. I’m not even into the second chapter and there are quite a few words that I’ve never read before and I’ve had to look them up in my dictionary to find out what they mean. So I’m happy that I will have quite a plethora of words for my Wednesday Word of the Week. Here is the first of many:
Vitriol – any several sulfates of metals, as of copper (blue vitriol) or iron (green vitriol); sulfuric acid; caustic remarks
Based on what I was reading, caustic remarks fits the bill for this definition. I am looking forward to reading this book (it was recommended by a girlfriend of mine) and learning A LOT of new words with this book as well as adding these new words to my growing vocabulary.
So one of the things I’ve been playing around with is doing a word of the week kind of thing. I’m just going to blindly open my dictionary and pick a word. Thought Wednesday would be the day since it fits with the “w” theme. So without further ado, here is the Wednesday Word of the Week:
Uncork – to pull the cork out of.
Ah, this is the perfect word to start this new endeavor! When I saw this word, I immediately thought of wine…nectar of the Gods in my opinion. Although anyone who enjoys wine knows you never uncork the wine, you open it to let it breath 🙂
And yes, I just realized that today is Thursday *haha*
WOW! 2013 was the last time I posted anything here. Not only does time fly, but life gets in the way of fun things, like writing my blog. There is SO much I have to tell you, I don’t even know where to begin.
So…I’ll begin with…I AM A COLLEGE GRADUATE!!!!!!!!! After 10 long years, I FINALLY have a college degree. For anyone that has gone through the college experience, you know what a relief and a sense of accomplishment walking across the stage is.
April 24th, I submitted my final, final paper. After I clicked on the submit button, I just sat on my couch (it was an on line class) and I just sat there for about 10 minutes. Then I walked to my fridge, grabbed a beer and started binge watching Grey’s Anatomy *laughing* Have to say that I felt kind of lost without having homework to do, but I’m replacing that with reconnecting with friends that I’ve put on the back burner for the past few years. I can’t believe that I am finally having a social life! It’s the little things in life 🙂
To the rest of the college graduates out there…CONGRATULATIONS! I am proud of you and I salute you!
I love this weeks photo challenge! I immediately thought of this great picture of my daughter sharing a kiss with one of her aunties at Tortilla Flats in New York City. Enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Being a single woman on this holiday of love, I was planning on doing something snarky on the blog, but calmer heads prevailed.
Found this beautiful picture on Pinterest and wanted to share it with you.
Happy love day Ramblings of an Emmett readers and to anyone else dropping by for a visit. Enjoy!
When I read the weekly photo challenge this week is home, I immediately thought of my mom. My mom passed away about 12 years ago and I miss her terribly. She was funny, creative, earthy; genuine. She will always be “home” to me. Enjoy.
My sister Stacy is an artist. When my daughter was born, she gave this to her. It’s called “Genie Bottle”. This is a one of a kind – unique. Enjoy.
